Is anyone charging a security deposit for guests? If so, how much and why?

Is anyone charging a fee for pets? Or baking it into the nightly rate and/or cleaning fee?

We charge for pets, but realize full well that many folks are bringing pets without notifying us.

We do not charge damage deposits.  Guests are wary of a damage deposit, and charging one will chase off many potential guests.  We rarely have damage from a guest stay, but if we do, it's the cost of doing business.
