Lake House STR Near Houston Texas?

Hello!

I currently own 13 long term rental units in Houston Texas (1 SF and 3 MF).

I am interested in exploring STR (EG AirBnB) at a waterfront property - I'm thinking Lake Conroe or Lake Livingston area.

My realtor is suggesting Galveston because it's better suited for STR, however we're nervous about flooding/hurricanes.

Does anyone have any experience with STR in the Houston area? Even better if Conroe/Livingston.

In particular I'm curious if you are able to pay the mortgage with the profit?  With my LTRs I cane make ~$200ish monthly profit per door, however for this property I would be OK breaking even of a slight loss, since it has the benefit that I can visit the lake house when not occupied.

Anyone that can share their experience or info would be greatly appreciated.

-Mike
