Taking over a STR with bookings already in place
Hello all,
I have recently purchased a duplex (townhome) in Montana and will be using both sides as short term rentals. I will be managing the properties myself.
The previous owner already has bookings for June and July- the peak months in our area where we will make the majority of our money for the year.
How do I make sure that the transfer of the property and bookings goes as smooth as possible?
We did have our agent add some language to our contract before signing, but I know there will be more to it than that. I'm assuming the current owner already accepted payments for the booking, the current property management group has most likely already taken their share of the bookings, etc. How do I make sure we get those funds?
Thanks,
Sophie

The previous owner probably has not been paid yet through Vrbo. But those details should have been hashed out before the sale. When the guests stays, the payment will go to the previous owner's account. So you'll need to contact the guests, have them cancel, and rebook under your account.
