Do I absolutely need an LLC for STR or is it okay to be a sole proprietorship?

I currently do not have any units as of right now but I am in question about whether I need an LLC or can I just run the business through sole proprietorship?

You do not need an LLC to operate Real Estate. Until you get 10+ units, maybe... just make sure you are adequately insured...
