Thoughts on hiring a property manager for first STR

What are your thoughts on a property manager for your STR, vs self managing?

Prevailing wisdom says to start out self managing.

I'm great at hospitality, but I hate confrontation, and frankly I procrastinate in a bad way when it comes to calling a handy man for my own house. The thought of a text from a disgruntled guest on a Saturday night just doesn't sound fun to me. Is anyone HAPPY they hired a property manager for their STR?

Id self manage, especially at the beginning. In the STR world, ratings are important.

You say you're not confrontational? Great! Thats a big first step.  And youre good at hospitality? Well thats about all you need!

A non-confrontational, hospitality centered STR host is gold.
