STR tip for lower nightly rate on map view

People are always drawn to the lower nightly rate when looking at the map view.  What I have found to be helpful is to artificially lower your nightly rate that shows up on the map view.

I had a Wednesday free and I have a 2 night minimum. I went into the pricing tool and dropped the price for that night by 75%. When you go back to the map view, the nightly rate decreased by 25%. When I clicked on the calendar that night was not available because of the minimum stay requirement. So effectively I drove more traffic to my listing by people browsing on the map view but didn't have to decrease my ADR at all.

I did it again when I had 2 free nights on a Wednesday and Thursday. I changed the minimum night stay to 3 nights during those dates and dropped the rate and got the same result.

*Make sure that you go to your listing from the guest view and aren't able to book those nights*

Are you in effect offering a BOGO?

Any trick to lower you nightly rate on the map is worth looking at. Not sure I want to start giving away free nights during the prime season though.

No he's manipulating the price it displays to trick guests into clicking on his listing. Personally I think it's dishonest and a guaranteed way to piss off potential guests.
