Airbnb in residential vs STR community
Hello everyone! For those of you in the Orlando/Kissimmee Airbnb business, what are your thoughts on buying an older home in a residential community vs buying in a short term rental community like Storey Lake, Windsor, etc?
I have an opportunity to purchase a 3 bedroom 2 bath home in Indian Wells, Kissimmee. This community is zoned for short term rental and the HOAs are essentially non-existent. The home has a pool, a lake view, and my plan would be to renovate it entirely, giving it a unique look (bohemian decor, hammock in the backyard, fruit trees, gravel path leading to a fire pit, etc).
Anyone having been to that neighborhood would agree that it is far from upscale (in fact, some houses are pretty run down), but I do see quite a few Airbnbs there, and the community is very close to the theme parks.
Thanks!
