Well, I had a couple just leave one of my places and she left a review saying "wonderful house, so cute and great location, but it is not suitable for young children". When I went to clean it today, it was one of our messier guests ever. Little crumbs everywhere, grease  and syrup, had to do a deep clean.

So I went 'huh' to myself and went and checked my listing on AirBnB. Sure enough, it says in the description - Not suitable for infants under 2 yrs old AND 'not suitable for children 2 - 12'.

In addition to that, when she booked our place, she noted that there would be '3' adults staying....nothing about kids.

So I posted a response that she had not mentioned kids when she booked so what was the problem? No reply. So she snuck her kid in and then complained it wasn't suitable for kids....go figure.

Fortunately most guests are good honest people. We only get weird stuff like this 1 in 50 maybe........

Sorry that this happened to you. I have come to a realization that people do not read everything just the top and then they think it is what it is. I personally make my properties kids friendly to attract families, this decreases my chances of party people and other bad guests. My check in process includes an extensive list of house rules that I make them read and acknowledge prior to receiving smart lock codes. So far it has been working well. I can share my house rules with you if you would like to, you could include there all the extras there including a deep clean like the one you just had to do.

One thing that would like to leave here for anyone to read is that STR guests that look for the cheapest places such as studios, or 1b/1b are the pickiest ones. This is why I focus in larger properties 3B+/2.5+, the guests are more educated and tend to have better funds. Way less complaints and understanding people.
