Offshore Locations - Jersey Shore

Newbie here and looking to tap into the great hivemind of this forum! We are looking to acquire a second home / STR on the Jersey Shore. We prefer an SFH but we're priced out of the areas we love such as Ocean City and Cape May. We've started looking at neighboring towns such as Somers Point, North Cape May, Cape May Court House, and the Villas. We like the idea of more space but are nervous about attracting short-term renters.

Is it better to try to land a 2-bed condo in OC vs. a small SFH in an outlying area?
