Good Morning BP,

My name is Carmen Ruiz, I recently signed up for the PRO subscription with BP. I'm looking for REIA meetings near the Methuen, Massachusetts area. Any REIA meetings or zoom calls I can sign up for?

I would also like to connect with other Real Estate Investors in this area.  Any other RE Investors interested in connecting?  Please send me a note through this form.

Best Regards,
Carmen Ruiz

Actually further research does show some proposals to outright ban short-term rentals in Newport: Newport Considers Ban on Short-Term Rentals and Is outlawing all short-term rentals in Newport's residential areas the answer?

As the articles note though, those are just proposals at this point and it remains to be seen what the City Council will do.

My guess, based on nothing other than my own guesswork, is that they'll continue to allow AirBNB but restrict it in some way such as a cap on numbers of listings, restricting it to only owner-occupied properties, requiring fire inspections, etc. And very likely special higher taxes on properties used for STR.

But we’ll see what happens of course.
