How to rent in transitioning neighborhood

Question for you pros.  I have just completed a remodel in a transitioning neighborhood and wanting to rent this house out in the near future.  I don't want to do section 8 as I've heard many crazy stories.  What are some of the strategies to rent out this house out in such a neighborhood (C+ to B-) as I"m worried it won't attract a renter that will has good credit and pay on time.
