Suggestions to prevent clogging?

Hello BP Community!

I have a rental property that has a unique roof as seen below:

Leaves clog this drain and the roof in the upstairs apartment leaks. Everyone I have talked to just says that I need to go on the roof every month and make sure its clear of anything that could clog the drain. Has anyone had this issue or have any long term solution? Thanks for reading and I am looking forward to your feedback!
