Situation with half duplex foundation
Hi,
I bought a half duplex in Jun, rehabbed and rented it out. The other half of the duplex was bought by another landlord and it has foundation issue and they are going to fix it soon. The foundation is slab and the foundation guy checked my side of the unit and it walks flat and says no fix needed except the common wall/fireplace has some settlement. I am new to RE and not sure what to expect in this situation. Following are my concerns.
1. When the foundation is fixed on the other side, would it cause any damage to my unit?
2. Would there be cracks, plumbing and door open/close issues to my unit?
3. I spent lot of money on the rehab couple months ago, my tenant is cooperative but he doesn't want to deal with any damages to the rented portion, so who is responsible for any damages to my unit that might be caused by other side foundation fix?
Appreciate any suggestions or advices on what to expect and how to handle this situation.
