Not supplying an oven or refrigerator??

Hello,

I just closed on a multi family property and the old owners told me they would not supply any appliances.

They let the tenants know that the existing oven, refrigerator and washer were able to be used by the tenant, but would not be serviced or replaced.

Is this a common practice?

I thought the landlord usually supplies at least the oven and frig.

Thanks in advance!

I think it's embarrassing to be a landlord and not provide appliances, but maybe it's just me. They are renting for a reason, they should not have to get their own oven. Moving appliances in and out, by tenants, is a safety hazard, a personal hazard, and a potential wear and tear hazard.
