Calculating Property Tax

What is the strategy investors/landlords use to calculate property tax. Do y'all just look at the zillow tax assessment and use their estimate calculator? Also, I will be investing in Florida so any FL investors care to tell me how much they pay on average in property taxes annually on their rentals...?

Thank you.

Not sure how they do it in Florida but in my county in Delaware, you can look up prior year's tax bill on any property by entering the address in the County web site. It also tells you if the taxes are paid up or delinquent. Check your County web site.

@Josh Corby In FL you can look on the county Property appraiser site and see the Market Value, which will often be vastly different than the current Assessed value, due to homestead and other exemptions. The assessed value and the actual taxes will give you the rate, to apply to the Market value, typically about 2%.

@Josh Corby the easiest way is to look at each counties property appraiser web sites under estimated taxes. They typically seem to be 2-3%

FL county appraiser is an amazing system, lucky for all of you down there.  When we had property in FL I became very jealous of it.  Nothing like it up in MI that is for sure.
