Forbearance forgiveness? It this real or possible?

Hi everyone! I am a bit stumped, I have a client asking me whether there it is possible to get forbearance forgiveness or relief as a landlord. My client is stating that his relative was able to get their "forbearance forgiven after their accountant helped them fill out some forms"... Long story short, my client sold several properties in 2020 while in a forbearance period, the loans had to be brought current before opening escrow so my client got current on the loans. His question is whether he can 'claim back' any of the amount that was paid to get current on the loans. I have looked around online and cannot seem to find anything remotely close to this. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
