Lowes/Home Depot Installations

Does anyone have any experience using Lowes or Home Depot for installation services? I'm in need of finding someone to install flooring in a rehab project asap, but majority of the contractors in my area are so busy they are months out. I have priced out the flooring I'd like to use from both stores, and am curious if using them for installation as well would be a good option? Any opinions, thoughts, or experience on this would be great!

Thank you all for the advice! Jack, I do have some leads on a couple unlicensed contractors in my area through some mutual friends that I highly trust. Other than potential risks that you mentioned, do you see any other major pitfalls in going the unlicensed/uninsured route? If I have reputable sources and references that I trust, than that may be the best way for me to go.

I would avoid using random people form Craigslist or Facebook. Look for referrals of people who did good work for someone you know. Local realtors are a great source of referrals for stuff like this. When you are hiring unlicensed/uninsured people, it could be the first time they even did that type of work. They could be a criminal or con man. If you hire through HD or Lowes, they are vetted and they will stand behind the work. These days I hire professionals and get it done right the first time without having to babysit.
