Maintenance and cleaning property argument

My husband and I have been having disagreements about who cleans the yard , hallways and maintain the property. We recently bought a 3 family house it also has tenants in it. I told my husband one of the tenants made a complaint about the place being dirty because the other tenants are nasty. I brought up the issue to him and told him I will go to the house ( it’s in a different state) and clean there and I will also rent a dumpster so we could clean out the garage. Now we have been arguing all week because he says “ landlords are not responsible or cleaning the hallways or yard and that the tenants should be the one to clean the garage and put all the heavy things in the dumpster “.
