Tenant Requesting Rental Assistance

Hello!

We purchased a multi-family rental property in November. This property came with an inherited tenant who has been difficult to deal with since the day we closed. He is now almost two months behind in rent, has been laid off, and has a multitude of lies and stories about why he can't pay rent.

We have informed him that we will not be renewing his lease when it is up in May. He sent over some paperwork for assistance for us to fill out. If he is going to be out by the end of May, is it just going to complicate things for us to get him on this program?

Thank you in advance for your advice.
