SSN not provided by applicants for a rental

Applicants have always provided their SSN on the application but today 3 of them left that line blank. I have never encountered this refusal to provide important information. I was liking them until they submitted incomplete applications. What do you think?

@Jane S. It could be a simple misunderstanding, A lot of people I know are weary about providing that. I would call and communicate that you need that for whatever reason.

This business is all about clear communication.
