Landlord Laws in Kansas
I am in Kansas and am looking at getting a property in a college town. The home currently has tenants. BUT its a 4 bedroom home with only two tenants. Therefore only collecting half of what the rent should be.(Still profitable) They have already signed a lease in the future that will not start until after I have closed on the property. Legally am I obligated to honor future leases? The downside if I didn't allow these people to stay in the home another year is most students in this college town have already secured their homes for the next school year. So if I were to NOT honor it (if legal) I may be stuck with having no tenants for the coming year. Thoughts and or legal advise on honoring a future lease?
