Seeking Legal Advice, Tenant Requesting Accessibility Changes
This property is located in Nashville, TN. The upcoming surgery will heavily and temporarily impact their mobility, limiting them to a walker for a short period of time (assuming the surgery goes well). My single family home is part of a 10 house HOA that has an open parking lot in the back where anyone can park with no assigned spaces. We also do not have a designated handicap spot as there are no painted/drawn spots, it's just an empty concrete slab. They are requesting to have the spot closest to their house be exclusively assigned to them for 4 weeks. However, I do not know how to enforce this based off my HOA rules, nor do I know if this is something that I'm even allowed to enforce. I know I must make reasonable accommodation requests and am more than happy to do so, but I'm struggling with how to properly move forward with this.
I want to do what is right for the tenant while protecting my property/business at the same time. Looking to chat about this, and potentially partner with, an attorney.
