Citation for code violation in Baltimore county
I have a rental in Baltimore county and the other day when I was looking at the property taxes I noticed a "Non-tax lien" bill for county code violations (trash, grass, etc) aftr somebody filed a complaint. My mailing address was incorrect so I never received any notice and the tenant claims they didn't receive any either.
Does anyone know if a notice is left at the property? I just want to know whether the tenant could have known about it and ignored it.
The lease does stipulate that tenant has to keep the property up to code and that tenant is liable for any fine.
I'm thinking if they truly didn't know about, then it's my fault in which case I'm willing to pay for some or all of the fine. Should I do that?
Advice on what to do/how to approach this problem would be appreciated? Thanks!
