Preparing for first purchase

Hello everyone,

Backstory to my self; I’m new to bigger pockets and am 22 years old. I’m currently paying back my student loan debt, utilizing a credit card for gas/groceries and keeping those payments up to date with no interest paid as well as saving $600 a month in preparation for getting a rental property. I’m currently a Licensed Practical Nurse and enjoy my job, however I would like to invest in real estate to generate some “passive” income.

I wondered if there are any suggestion/advice as to what else I should be doing at this point in preparation to purchasing a property for renting out?

Thanks in advance for any advice!
