Furnished Rental Lease / Additional Insured

We rent out furnished apartment units for “long term” stays...anywhere from 1 month to a year. Currently, our lease requires tenants to obtain renters insurance and for us (the landlord) to be listed as the additional insured on their policy. I got a request to change this to be listed as the additional interested. I seem to understand the differences between the two in a general rental agreement; “additional interested”=proof that insurance is obtained, changed or cancelled, while “additional insured”extends the policy to me in case of any claims, which will be covered under the renter’s policy first. Because we have furnished apartment units...it is our belongings that could possibly be at fault for any claims, at risk to the renter so it makes sense to leave it as additional insured (so I think). What are your thoughts and knowledge base on this matter? I’ve never had anyone refuse this before. Thanks for your advice!
