Definition of "Term of Lease"

Greetings,

I'm trying to get some clarity on a definition in a lease: Term of Lease

Example:

Term of Lease: This lease shall commence on the___ day of (month), (year), and extend from month to month until:_______.

Below this statement is then stated : Either landlord or tenant gives the other written thirty(30) day notice of termination of lease agreement.

So, if the Term of Lease begins on the 1st of the month, when, based on the above info, does the tenant need to give notice to vacate? Do they need to give notice by the first, in order to give a full calendar month of notice? Or do they need to give 30 days notice with time of month being irrelevant; i.e. notice on 15th, then move out 15th of following month is acceptable?

Much thanks.
