Help with lease agreements

Zachary Spade
Posted

I just had an offer accepted on my first single family rental and I am very excited! however, I realized I do not have any documents ready for lease agreements or even rental applications, I was wondering if there was a good website that could help me build a solid agreement and maybe have some application templates? Thank you BP Family!

You have gotten a lot of good suggestions. Here is what I advise my Connecticut clients to do in this situation:

- Have your attorney you closed the deal with write up a lease template for you so you can use it going forward by filling in specific tenant info

- Get your local real estate agents board lease. This will be simple and to the point, but will get the job done

- Check out the BP options for state specific documents or other sites that have this kind of info. Real landlords usually upload the templates they use

- Write it up yourself. I would still have an attorney or a very experienced landlord review it to make sure all of the major elements are included
