Tracking down an ex tenant that owes $2500

So all i have on this guy is his drivers license. He finally left after months of not paying rent. Now i need to find him so i can sue him.

Long story really. But he intentionally didn’t pay and refuses to leave until his lease was almost up then finally left.
I’m aware i can find his new address via the post office if done correctly. I would LIKE to collect on the money. But more than anything i want this on his record and i want him to learn a lesson. Does anyone here have experience with this? Is it worth going after him? Did you get paid? Opinions?

Take him to small claims court. Get a judgment. Turn that judgment over to a collection agency. Write it off because you're almost guaranteed to never see a dime.

In the future, your application should require more than just a driver's license. Former addresses (verified on the credit/criminal background check), social security or Tax ID number, date of birth, full name (verified on picture ID and credit/criminal background check), etc.
