Renting to tenants during COVID

Joe Patton
Posted

I am in the process of renting a few of our units out in Seattle and I've been hearing a few stories of potential renters losing their jobs or being on unemployment so not being able to show a proof of real income. In Seattle and in Washington we have an eviction moratorium in place for the foreseeable future. Does anyone have any ideas of the best way to tackle this issue?

Thanks in advance!
Joe

Joe, don't let the media freak you out!  We manage over 600 units in 15 states and we have had no serious issues with COVID and tenants not paying rent.  We have houses in CA and OR, 2 of the most tenant friendly states in the union and you know what not one person owes us rent right now.  I have tenants that have lost jobs but yet they found new ones.  I have tenants that got sick but they recovered.  We have managed to work out every situation positively and without having to remove ANYONE.   Not to mention there are some wonderful programs and charities out there helping people pay rent when they have been greatly hurt by COVID-19.  Stick to your plan, rent your house out an make great returns.
