Tax time- Real Estate Professional Status

Posted

Hello all- I’m interested in claiming RE Professional status. I’m wondering if time spent traveling to-from rentals is eligible towards the 750hr requirement. Additionally is time spent doing due diligence and searching for new properties eligible? Finally, I’m studying for my RE license, is this time eligible? How about time spent reading RE investing books? I realize all of these activities would need to be logged which I have (I’m just unclear as to if they are eligible).

thanks so much in advance for your comments!
