Tenant Paid for Repair on Rental, Can We Write off Repair on Tax?

We have a rental property where a new tenant has settled in for about 4 months now.  Before turning it into rental property my family and I moved there and we took good care of it.

Our tenant has informed us they paid for dryer vent cleaning because the sensor on their dryer was having issues.  Cleaning the dryer vent didn't yield to much lint, however it cleared the error on the dryer.

The tenant didn't tell us they were going to do this first, did the repair and paid for it out of their own pocket. Once the work was done, then they told us about it.

We've told the tenants to tell us first before doing anything like this before paying for any type of repair.

My question to you all is that since the tenant paid for the repair, even though they sent us the receipt.  Can we claim this repair on our tax return?  We want to reimburse the tenant either way.

thanks
