Month-to-Month vs. Extended Lease with eviction moratoriums

Has anyone been converting expired long-term leases to month-to-month leases in states where there is a moratorium on evictions to protect you on non-payment of rent?  It appears to be a landlord's only option to protect rental interests until these pandemic-related moratoriums are lifted.
