I didn't tranfer my Roofing Warranty.....Am I SOL?
I screwed up. I bought a house in 2013 that had a new roof installed in 2012 after a major hail storm went through the area. I never knew anything about transferring the roofing warranty and I just talked to the previous owner and he did not either. In fact, he said he never signed up for the warranty when his roof was replaced. He just said it was so hectic at the time and he didn't know he had too. I went to Owens Corning to talk about the 30-year shingles that are falling apart, streaking, and separating after 8 years. I learned from the roofer that about 7 other homes he knows of that had their roof replaced with Owens Corning shingles at roughly the same time are having the same problem. I'm angry at myself for not knowing about roofing warranties and I am not happy with the realtor who sold me the house for not providing the information. I know that this is a big boy world and everyone should know everything, but we don't. Below is the response I received from Owens Corning.

Hello Thomas,
Thank you for contacting Owens Corning. I am sorry you are having issues with the shingles on your roof.
I understand you spoke
with a few warranty agents earlier this week, I have attached the
warranty terms that were in affect in
April of 2012. Per the legalese, the warranty must be transferred
within 60 days after closing. Owens Corning stands behind our products
as well as our warranty and unfortunately at this time it appears we do
not have warranty terms.
If any other questions, please feel free to call xxx.xxx.xxx or reply to this email.
Best Regards,
Josh S.
