Is the DATE next to signature necessary?

Hi all, I'd look to hear from you experienced landlords/managers/ a

I just received in the mail a signed rent renewal from one of my tenants that I had sent out.

I noticed that they have not put the date next to the signature this brought up the question to me  WHY and IF the date is necessary next to the signature - if it states exactly in the renewal the date when  the term  starts and ends.
