Experience with renting ADU & living in main house
My husband and I have built a new SFR and an ADU. We are deciding if we want to rent both units or live in main house and rent ADU. Our concern with the latter is that we have two young children and concern about the level of privacy we will have if we rent ADU. Each unit has its own entrance but the property is situated to where we would see our tenant coming and going. Would love to hear from those who have children and have had experience living in their main residence and renting out the ADU, the pros and cons in doing so. Thank you in advance for your advice!

@Tecsia Evans I do not have kids, but I have a tenant who lives in my ADU and my girlfriend lives in an ADU at the place of a family that frequently has kids/grandkids over. I definitely skew towards the side of being okay with tenants sharing my space... so much so that I wouldn't mind having roommates when I have kids (maybe I am being naive). In my experience my tenant respectfully only walks in and out. At my girlfriends place I always say hello to the kids or play basketball with them. I think you'll be fine with thorough tenant screening.
