Can my wife co-sign on my Invesment Property?

The issue I ran into is with closings costs and reserves my balances falls about $2,000 short of what the lender wants. The lender said I could not receive any gifts from my wife. My wife is using FTHB discounts in Maryland on our home purchase. I'm thinking of having her co-sign me on my loan to push that forward. Her closing is expected to be this Wednesday the 9th. If I inform my lender on the 10th to add her on as a co-signer would this affect anything on the first home or because she signed and paid on the 9th this is officially the second home she'd be purchasing? Thanks in advance for any information!
