Wisconsin notice and deposit law.

Hello, I have purchased a property in WI on 7/14 and after I bought it one of the tenants informed me they had given notice on 7/11. They vacated the unit before 8/1. Are they entitled to their deposit back? In the handbook it states that it can be retained for rent and since notice was late does that qualify?
