Tenant Lost Returned Security Deposit (Georgia)

I live in the state of Georgia and my inherited tenant lost the security deposit I returned during their move out of state. I was notified  via text message of the loss 10 days after I wrote the check for the tenant. Unfortunately, my bank cannot process a stop payment as neither the tenant nor I know the check number. Any help from someone who has experienced this issue would be GREATLY appreciated!
