Housing for disabled adults

I worked with disabled kids growing up, one of which was my brother(25). He would have to be checked on every once in a while to make sure hes keeping up with everything, but I know he has been wanting some independence and wants to live on his own. What are some things to know for renting for special needs kids? Any advice is helpful and this would be for more kids that have graduated highschool or adults then just my brother and his friends, etc?
