Tenants rent past due and unresponsice

Posted

Hello,

I have a rental property in Connecticut and have owned it for a little over a year now. I have a tenant who is 20 days past due on their July rent and their original 1 year lease is coming to an end on August 1st. Connecticut evictions have been put on hold until August 22nd due to Covid-19. I have sent my tenant multiple text messages, left a voicemail on their phone, and left a courtesy notice on their front door. No matter what way I attempt to contact them they do not respond at all. I want to understand their situation so I can handle it the best way possible. My goal is not to harass them but resolve the issue to the best of my ability. I was given advice to knock on the door to speak to them as well as if they do not leave in a timely manner I could offer them money to leave. Any and all recommendations are appreciated .

Thanks,

Matt
