Feel alone investing in Philly from NYC

Yu Cao
Posted

I have a fulltime job and have invested in a few single family rentals in Philly starting from last year. Experienced two contractors didn't finish the job and not reliable contractors for maintenance. At this moment, I realize I truly don't like dealing with contractors and feel very alone in this journey of building a portfolio of real estate. I started out with the dream of owning 300 units but feel so fearful at this moment.

Would love to build my supportive community to enjoy this game of creating longterm passive wealth with likeminded people. I almost want to quit at this moment and decided to write this post. Have you ever felt this way? Is this normal? How to do better?

Open to serendipities and connect with great people.

@Yu Cao you’re not alone dealing with contractors. My good contractors sometimes need a reminder that they said they’d finish a project by a specific date, and don’t get me stared on contractors who provide an estimate, then go silent.

It’s tough, lack of qualified tradespeople, coupled with the fact that many people who are good at one thing, aren’t great at business.

There are good ones out there, you just need to sort through the average ones to find them.
