Have you been sued by a tenant or applicant???

Every now and again, there are heated discussions on BP about what is "discrimination". Many get nervous and state; "call your Attorney!". Many do not apply the legal definition of discrimination to their reasoning. And many more are worried about "getting sued".

So, my question is; has anybody here been sued by their tenant? For any reason at all (not just discrimination)? I'd like to hear some short stories (not 10 paragraphs....you know who you are....). Just curious how prevalent it is. I suspect for every 1,000 people that proclaim they are going to sue us, maybe 1 actually does. Probably even less.

Replied

Having owned multiple SF rentals and many apartment units, we've never been sued by a resident or applicant.  But, we work hard to follow fair housing and take care of our residents needs.

The prior owner of one of our apartments has been sued by residents and vendors multiple times.  They were unethical and deceitful in their dealings with us at purchase and I've heard many horror stories from local vendors, so I presume they deserved it.
