Bed Bugs/Pest Control in Detroit

Helo to all,

I am currently in talks with our PM in Detroit which states that one of the houses has bed bugs. And that it is going to cost us between $825 and $900 to call a pest control service and get the job done in the whole property.

Being this an issue that appeared while the tenant was occupying the house (been there for 5 years now) is it really responsibility of the landlord to pay for those services or having the bugs appeared while the tenant was leasing the house is it his responsibility (since it appears he brought them there)?

Also, the PM is stating that the tenant should get rid of his mattress, and cloth furniture otherwise the bugs will appear again. Could be force him to do so?

I am asking this because, where I live, this is not an issue and I am not quite sure how to deal with this properly and how are the regulations in Detroit for this specific issue in terms of who should pay for this.

Also, if anyone could recommend a pest control service in the area for this and/or how much they normally cost, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks to all!
