How To Clean Carpet Glue Off Tile

Jody Sperling

Posted

We're rehabbing a house to rent. We pulled up carpeting in all the bedrooms and are replacing with Vinyl Plank. What is the best way to get carpet glue off of tile?

If it matters, the tile we're dealing with was laid in the 70's (meaning it was secured with the infamous black mastic glue. Gotta keep it down or the budget is officially blown!).

Tips on cleaning carpet glue will be much appreciated.

@Jody Sperling

1. Use nail polish remover. But that's a lot.

2. Paint thinner for large area.

Soak a cloth over a paint thinner and put it over the glue. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Then you can scrape it already.
