Backyard flooding. Is LL responsible?
It’s been raining pretty heavily in Chicago over the past few months. The backyard at my property (all concrete) has been flooding and my tenants are complaining about it. The water is not getting into the apartment, it’s just an inconvenience for them to get to the garage and alley due to the rain plus mud (coming from the construction next door). The existing concrete is old and slopes slightly inward so water tends to collect. But honestly it’s been raining more and ever before. We haven’t had this issue in the past.
I was told that Chicago backyards do not have drain systems and it’s not legal to create a system and connect it to the city’s drainage system. Does anyone have any solutions? French drain maybe?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
