Advice for hold over tenants requested
I have a client that plans to move into their rental property in Meridian, Idaho. Their property manager has given proper legal notice of the owners intent not to renew the lease when it expires. The problem is that the rental market is so tight here in the Boise area that the tenant has not been able to find adequate replacement housing so they have notified the property management company they "need" an extra month.
I suggested they contact an attorney that specializes in tenants and property management.
They were told that they really can't take any legal action yet, since the tenant is not yet in default. If it goes to court, it will take at least a month to evict them if they don't move out.
Does anyone know of a good preemptive strategy to resolve this?
