Buying duplex with fha loan

Tom Miller
Posted

Ok so I got a primary House that I brought a few yrs back that I'm living in and want to buy this duplex with a fha loan. One unit vacant and the other is occupied. FHA requires that u live in one of the units. I really don't want to live that close to a tenant. What I want to do is leave the one side vacant for a year. What I want to know is what obstacles will I face if I tried this. Can I act like I move in there or what

I’m in Indianapolis, in

Yep @Mike D'Arrigo said it. It’s fraud. Also, it’s wrong. I did this for a year in Indianapolis and am still friends with the tenant after he moved out years ago. Just buy a nicer move. Lots of nice duplexes in the 300k range where you’d like to live and have great tenants.
