COVID Rental Property Advice

Jamie Angst
Posted

Hello -

4 years ago I moved in with my fiance (now husband) and rented out my existing home. Everything went well until this past year where numerous repairs were needed. My husband and I agree that we need to sell it. We gave the 90 notice in January 2020 and then COVID happened.

My real estate agent recommends delaying as much as possible but we are unable to find anyone to rent the home short term. Does anyone recommend any steps we can take to lessen the burden of paying double mortgages? Is there any relief programs for this? Or maybe I can move my small business into my existing home to save some money with taxes?

Thanks

Jamie
