Tenant called county code compliance on rental property.
I have a hostile tenant in my SFR only rental property. It was built in the 40's and I've done no major add-ons or structural work on the house since I've had it the last 20 years. The county code compliance agent completed an inspection (without me there), and has questions about some construction that's obviously been done without permits since the original building (but not done by me). The agent is asking that I sign a "Taxpayers Authorization for Release of Assessor's Information" so he can research permits more closely. I have other property owners that tell me not to sign it or help with his report in any way. Anybody have experience with this in Southern California and have an opinion?
