House Hacking (Room Rental) Charlotte NC

I was thinking of renting out my rooms like many have done on BP. (I hope this helps with saving money and getting closer to my first investment property.)

But also like many others on BP, I have heard and read the horror stories about bad tenants!

I would like to know best practices or recommendations for screening tenants (Specifically for this type of house hacking). I would also like to know how and if normal state tenant laws apply for tenants out rooms? Do they also go through the normal channels for evictions?
